T G I-Fill In The Blank Friday!!!

It's FILL IN THE BLANK FRIDAY!!!

That means the weekend is almost here... Saturday {tomorrow}I have a bridal fashion show I am doing makeup for, which means I have to be there at 8:15 in the morning!! No sleeping in for me... but it's gonna be a blast!! I am definitely going to bring my camera to this one!!! Other than that, the weekend should be fantastically chill...

Anyways, on with the blanks!!

1.  One fashion trend I really regret is denim floppy hats with fake flowers glued to the front. I wore these religiously... oh, and my thick-framed round coke-bottle glasses... there were NO cool styles for kids back then.

2.  The one thing that always completes any outfit is  jewelry or a cute hair accessory. It can make a so-so outfit turn into your favorite outfit with the right accessories!!

3.  I would describe my personal style as  Laid back California girl with a little glam here and there. I love me some jeans, a cute cotton top and some flashy sandals... with my hair just blown dry like I was at the beach all day... I only curl it when I'm going somewhere special...  I do LOVE me some rockin' makeup and hair for the right occasion.

4.  My fashion muse is  Lauren Conrad. She is friggin gorgeous and it doesn't look like it takes her forever to get that look {though it probably does - haha}. I just love her laid back style, and I want her hair!!!!

5.  If I could own one designer piece of clothing it would be   Hmmmmmmmmmmm either a beautiful Coach purse or a dress from Oscar De La Renta... 

6.  I would love to raid the wardrobe of  Hmmmm this may sound funny, but I would LOVE to go through Beyonce's closet. I think her style is mesmerizing and would LOVE to see her shoe collection!!

7.  Today I am wearing  A heather gray tank top with braided trim, a green cardigan, jeans, and black patent flats. {see above photo}

It's       F   R   I   D   A   Y   !   !   !

Yes yes yes. But my crazy-busyness is not over yet. I have class tomorrow... at 9:00 am I am heading to a women's health event where I will be with my entire class doing makeup application for a few people involved in the event, then our entire class is running over to a photo shoot... We didn't get a whole lot of information on either event other than the fact that we will be running around like pretty little chickens with our heads cut off... guess that's the nature of the industry. Busy busy busy.

Anyways, on to the BLANKS!!

1.  The very best thing about the summer is

 Watermelon, BBQs, Lounging by the pool, sundresses at night, flip flops, margaritas, bright colors... oh wait, was I just supposed to list ONE thing? oops  : )

2.  My first crush ever was  a boy named Sean... he was the boy next door. Shy, polite, athletic and adorable. I think I was in 5th grade when that crush started... he he he

3.  This may sound really silly but  I sometimes wonder how different I would be if I had grown up with a sister. I LOVE my brothers, but I really feel like I missed out on that girly bond of sisterhood. 

4.  I squeeze my toothpaste from  all over... I just kinda crush it with my hand until toothpaste comes out. I'm not very graceful when it comes to the toothpaste.

5.  My absolute favorite "comfort food" is  Cheesy Garlic Mashed potatoes or Macaroni and Cheese. Ultimate yumminess!!!

6.  A random fact about me is that  I was raised on a little 2 acre ranch filled with animals like horses {9 to be exact}, dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, parakeets, and a goat. I was a total farm girl... I even did 4-H. Yup. You read that right.

7.  The one piece of technology that truly makes my life better and I couldn't live without is  Either my cell phone or my laptop {with internet and Photoshop}. I seriously feel like part of my brain is missing on days my phone dies or I leave it at home... and to not have the internet?? I'd feel lost and secluded from the world... It's sad but true.

Friday Blanks... Movie Style

F R I D A Y

is finally here. joy joy joy joy joy!!!

I am so glad for this week to be through and for the weekend to commence!! 

{I'm also VERY excited for my Saturday Makeup class tomorrow -- we're learning foundation application and skin tone color matching!!}

But we all know what Friday bring us - - - BLANKS!!!!

Here are my Friday Blanks:

1.  My absolute favorite movie of all time is Edward Scissorhands or American Beauty. I just love how both films have the raw character development and how they make you look at the world, life, and beauty, in a different light. Both very powerful films.

2.  My favorite movie as a child was  The Land Before Time... I seriously watched this movie every night before bed, and I had a serious love for all things dinosaur... I also love the Chipmunk Adventure movie... also a childhood classic...

3.  The best movie quote ever is  from American Beauty: "It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I realized there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in."

4.  My favorite actress is  I love Drew Barrymore's quirky sense of humor, and relate to her more than any other actress...  My favorite actor is  Duh, the one and only, Mr. Johnny Depp!!!  : )

5.  The movie I could watch over and over is   Almost Famous. I adore the unrequited love story, and just the overall vibe of the film. My favorite film Kate Hudson has done...

6.  My favorite movie genre is  hmmmmm, I think I go for the indie most often, but I love a good psychological thriller that isn't too bloody...

7.  A movie I'd like to watch this weekend is  The Hangover. I've seen it twice, but I need a good laugh... and that move is FULL of them... : )

It's time for some BLANKS

1.  One song that always takes me back to my youth is Walk on The Ocean by Toad the Wet Sprocket. My Dad always played that song on the 2 hour drive to my grandpa's old cabin to go camping and ride quads. Those were the best trips...

2.  My first concert ever was  No Doubt - Back in the Tragic Kingdom days. I think I was 12. It was an awesome concert!! My grandma and cousin took me. I remember my cousin talking about how hot Gwen Stefani was. HAHAHA

3.  If I could create my dream music festival I'd want these bands to be there:  Ray Lamontagne, The Beatles, The Doors, JOURNEY, Gregory Alan Isakov, Bob Marley, Jason Mraz, No Doubt (90's), The Killers, The Cure, Patsy Cline. -- What a hot mess that list is!!!

4.  The best make-out/"boot knocking" song ever is  Seriously, I'd prefer anything Beatles. WHY? Because EVERY Beatles song is good, so you wouldn't have to think about killing the moment by skipping a song.  : )

5.  The best concert I've ever been to was   Either No Doubt or The Cure. The Cure played for 3 hours straight and sounded fantastic. We also got to watch them while sitting on a blanket in a giant grassy field. It was bliss.

6.  A memorable musical moment for me was   When my friend Mike got too drunk at a bar and had me drive him home. I parked in his driveway and he handed me his iPod and told me to take it for the weekend and ONLY listen to Ray Lamontagne and Gregory Alan Isakov. I fell in love the second i heard the playlist start and have been obsessed with that music ever since.

7.  The song on my iPod that's getting the most play these days is  Telephone by Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Those ladies help me run. That songs just pumps me up for some reason.

HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!

ready for the weekend . . .

well, last night marked my second class in makeup school. unfortunately, our makeup kits didn't come in yet, but they will definitely be in by Tuesday... seriously i'm wondering if they are testing my patience - haha. 

my instructor taught us color theory last night... you know, primary colors, secondary colors and complimentary colors. she quizzed us on eye colors and shadow colors: like if you have a blue eye your most complimentary colors are in the orange and yellow area -- meaning peaches and golds will make your eye look bluer... and green eyes more pinks and reds oranges and purples, and so on.

*** soooooo i tried a little something different on the eyes this morning...
a bronzey copper on the outside, creamy gold on the inside & liquid liner.
{i know it's not the best picture. i'll work on that} ***

...i'm diggin it...

it was definitely a helpful lesson, especially when we all received news that our makeup kit wouldn't contain an abundance of lipsticks, but just a few lipstick tints in the basic primary colors... which means WE WILL BE MIXING AND MAKING OUR OWN LIPSTICK COLORS every. single. time. Kinda scary, but VERY cool at the same time. reminds me of painting when i was a kid mixing all those paints...

we also were given a makeup artist to research -- mine was gina brooke. i'll admit i had no idea who she was, but a little research and a few articles later, i realized she is amazing, and does the exact style of makeup i am interested in. crazy huh?

friday is here again! 

yipppeeeeeeeeee!! 

i have a feeling this weekend is going to be a good one. why you ask? well, i'm having lunch with some childhood besties... we're long overdue for a lunchie lunch, so you could say i'm pretty excited about this... oh! and SUNDAY i am taking part in a little sailing expedition... a few friends and i are modeling for a sail boat company, and we get a lunch and a 2 hour sailboat ride out of the deal... pretty sweet sunday if ya ask me. hopefully they'll let me take a few snapshots in between shots  : )

an on to one of my favorite things about friday: 

FRIDAY BLANKS

1.  The first thing I do in the morning is 

walk like a zombie to the living room and feed little Olive. 

She won't let me get anything done until she's got food in her bowl. 

2.  Every night before bed  I  

Set my alarm, brush my teeth, make sure all doors are locked {i'm a freak about this}  and get into my PJs. hmmmmmmm i kinda want to do this now  : )

3.  My favorite thing to do when I'm having a bad day is 

 Go shopping, bake something delicious, or play with Olive. 

4.  Something that makes me cringe is 

when people have a seriously BAD cough {and by bad i mean disgusting} and don't cover their mouth. especially if they're standing behind you in line... sick. 

5.  Social situations   

are difficult for me if it's for work or with a bunch of people I don't know. 

I find them awkward, but handle it well I think. 

6.  I like to collect  

Candles and MAC eyeshadows. I serously have SO many!! 

Guess that'll come in handy when I start makeup class on TUESDAY!!! 

eeeek!!!

7.  Weekends are for  

The REAL ME. All week I'm the WORKING ME, doing work things, life things, errands, chores, laundry... on weekends I get to do things I WANT to do...

some thoughts for friday . . .

well friday is here. hip hip hooray.

seriously... i'm so glad it's the weekend.

but alas, there is much to do this weekend, and before i know it, it will be monday again. this weekend i will be seeing a very close childhood friend of mine. and though i am thrilled to see her, it will not be in the setting i would prefer. i will be attending a memorial service for her father who passed away last week... my poor dear friend. it hurts to hear her voice in tears over the phone. 

she has had a very rough 2010, and i just want to go give her a big hug. and i will give her a big hug. tomorrow. and hopefully make her laugh. and she definitely deserves a smile and a chuckle. cuz thats what friends are for... right?

anywho... before i become anymore depressing -- some friday blanks!!!

1.  The strangest thing I've ever eaten was

 rabbit. yes, you read that right. rabbit.

it was a 4-H auction and the little 4-H'ers were passing around all different kinds of meat. Unknowingly, i tried a sample of something that turned out to be rabbit. it was weird.

2.  My best friend is  well, i have like 5 best friends, and they're labeled by types. i have the boyfriend bestie, the tell-everything-to bestie, the childhood bestie, the crazy bestie... there can't be just one : )

3.  If I could live in a different era it would be      the 1960's    because i could've seen the Beatles and been a part of the mania. and i also think i could have made a good hippie... 

4.  I like when a stranger gives you a compliment. i believe when it comes from an unknown person, it's truly genuine.

5.  If you only know one thing about me it should be  that i can NEVER be intentionally mean. i have never and will never be mean to someone on purpose. even if i have good reason to. i just can't.

6.  My favorite book(s) of all time is  Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Where the Sidewalk Ends, and Shakespeare's Hamlet... one hell of a combo eh?

7.  The one beauty product I couldn't live without is   hmmmmmm i think it's a toss-up between liquid eyeliner and foundation. my skin gets a little splotchy almost every day, so foundation is a must... and i can't leave the house without some sort of eyeliner on my eyes....

8.  Blogging is  my escape from the everyday. i can share a story, idea, or thought... or i can read someone else's blog and get totally inspired. Blogging motivates me in so many ways. and blogger friends are simply amazing.

9.  If I could star in a movie with any actor/actress I would want to work with      Ummmm mr. Johnny Depp of course!!! he is a sexy beast and i would LOVE to star in an action/romantic movie with him. i chose action film cuz i would love to show off my tough side... i'm no dainty flower.

10.  One of the best feelings in the world is  getting home on a friday afternoon knowing you have two full days of freedom. it's like a blank canvas...

another friday is upon us, however this friday seemed a little more reluctant to appear than other fridays.

this week was just dragging along for me... but hey! it's finally friday!!

BLANKS!!

1.  The best piece of advice I was ever given was

 If you can't say nothin' nice, don't say nothin' at all.

2.  If I had a million dollars to give to one charity I would give it to  St. Jude's Chidren's research.

3.  If I got to choose my "last meal" it would be  

gruyere and herb ravioli {from los olivos cafe} with a roasted beet and goat cheese salad {from corktree} with a bottle of fantastic white wine. heaven.

4.  My hair is 

now blonde!!

 i've ditched the dark and went light. it's also working it's way into being "long"

5.  If at first you don't succeed  

try try again. if then you don't succeed, have a glass of wine and try again tomorrow.  : )

6.  I have always been very  

sarcastic and funny. i try to use my dry humor to my advantage whenever possible.

7.  Oh....and by the way....  

i can barely contain myself about the fact that it's friday and i get to be one step closer to taking make-up classes today!! oh, and HOORAY for the weekend!!

is it really friday already? ha! where the heck did this week go?

last thing i remember was being sad it was only tuesday then WABAM!! it's friday.

it's been a good friday so far. i opened my mailbox for the first time this week {a terrible habit i have} and got this little Poketo in the mail from G-ma... 

LOVE it... it's sooooo cute!! G-ma knows me well.

well, tomorrow i'm doing the one crazy thing i never thought i would do... 

i'm running in the orchard to ocean 5K run... what?!

i don't think i'm totally prepared, but last night i got to thinking: if i don't plan on finishing in 1st place, or even 10th place for that matter, why am i so worried about it? bah... just as long as i FINISH the run {and actually run most of it} i'll be a very happy girl.

oh, yeah... it's friday blank time!!!!!

here are my blanks for this week...

1.  Today I am wearing 

 my flowery tunic from forever 21, jeans from american eagle, and my new cream flats. {casual friday - i love thee}

2.  My favorite childhood food was  

cheeeeeeeeeeeese burgers!!!!!  i had a small obsession.  

and my favorite food  now is either sushi or homemade irish cheddar macaroni and cheese. YUM YUM.

3.  A day that I am too busy to  shower and have coffee  is a day that I am too busy.

4.  The last movie I saw was  

Hurt Locker (rented from blockbuster) -- incredible movie!

and the next movie I want to see is 

Alice in wonderland. i still haven't seen it... : (

5.  My favorite smell is coconut because,  

it reminds me of sunscreen and anything tropical, which reminds me of summertime  : )

6.  A weird little quirk I have is  

always keeping the sink clean and doing my dishes right after i use them. i can't stand dirty dishes. i'd be an excellent roommate...

7.  When I take personality quizzes they always say I'm  

the life of the party. SUPER outgoing and magnetic. i usually laugh at those quizzes because i'm never like that at a party or with strangers. i'm only outgoing with my very close friends...

sooooooo, it's friday people.

and that means so many good things...

the weekend is just hours away, relaxation is around the corner, a matinee of Alic in Wonderland is in my near future, and the sun is going to shine for the whole weekend!

i couldn't be more thrilled... and anxious to be rid of this workweek. it was a doozy...

lately i've been jonesin' for a real vacation. 

i want to go to a place where i can lounge by a pool a bake {safely} in the sun, wear flip flops all day, dresses at night, and drink iced beverages. i keep reading on various blogs that some of you are on spring break... oh what i would do for a spring break. or just a 4-day weekend in palm springs.. aaaaaah to dream. perhaps my tax return will grant my wish...

anywho... on with the friday blanks!!

1.  The best day ever was when Mr. D took me to Coachella in Palm Desert {i'm clearly on a desert vacation kick}, and we spent the day at our hotel lounging by the pool and drinking margaritas, then went to the festival that afternoon and saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and the Killers. spectacular.

2.  My favorite meal of the day is  lunch or dessert {yes, dessert is a meal!} because lunch can include anything from bread, cheese, burgers, or salad -- and sometimes breakfast for lunch is awesome. do i need to explain dessert???

3.  This weekend  i have no plans but to see my friends band play at a local bar & grill, and hang out with my girls... those weekends are the best!!

4.  Never in my life have I  gone skydiving... or any high-risk jumping sport of that nature. i've always wanted to, just never had the opportunity. clearly i'm not afraid of heights.

5.  The only thing better than getting a new hairdo is  getting a new hairdo and going SHOPPING... everyone loves getting a new outfit to go with yer 'DO right??

6.  I could really do with a girls night out. i want to get all dolled up and have martinis and get lost in girl talk... it's been waaaay too long. ladies???

7.  The most recent thing I bought myself was some tank tops and a  yellow long sleeve shirt from Target. it's is my new favorite comfy weekend shirt... i love Target
