In Other News . . .

I just discovered not too long ago that one of my absolute favorite artists, Mr. Gregory Alan Isakov, is performing right here in my very own town... just a mere 5 minute drive from my apartment.

are you kidding me?!?!
I'm so there...

Don't know who he is?
Never heard his beautiful music that makes you want to have a midnight picnic with wine and a blanket staring at the stars? Hmmmmmmm perhaps you should check him out... and fall in love, just like me.
He is beautiful isn't he? His music is even more so...

June 12th couldn't come soon enough.

APRIL 2010 -- In celebration of Earth Month 2010 and Origins Earth Initiatives which support programs that help to sustain the planet, Origins will host its first annual Origins Rocks Earth Month Concert in NYC on April 19th. Due to pent up demand, Origins will be streaming Macy Gray’s performance live in an effort to share this concert globally and raise environmental awareness.

Fans are invited to the FREE star-studded concert at Webster Hall New York City featuring Grammy Award-Winner Macy Gray. Origins has chosen to partner with Macy as her new single “Beauty In The World” captures the sentiment of Earth Month. The concert will also include performances by emerging artists Ryan Star and Jon McLaughlin.

For those unable to attend the concert in person, Origins has partnered with MOG the Web's best on-demand music listening service and music blogging hub to bring Macy Gray’s performance live to the web for music listeners to enjoy the show around the world.

The concert will be broadcast live streaming at origins.com/liveconcert beginning at 10 p.m. EST/ 7 p.m. PST on April 19th.

“At Origins, we recognize the importance of environmental stewardship. Earth Month 2010 provides the perfect platform for Origins to reaffirm its commitment to giving back to Mother Nature, employing green practices and celebrating the planet,” announces Jane Lauder, General Manager/Senior Vice President, Origins. “Last year, through our Global Earth Initiative, Origins collected 7,500 pounds of empty cosmetic packaging to be recycled or responsibly converted to energy and planted nearly 24,000 trees. This year we are eager to further our green programs.”

Two free concert tickets will be offered to those who bring at least one empty cosmetic package (shampoo bottle, make up compact, deodorant container,) regardless of brand, to Origins retail stores in NYC, Westchester and the Garden State Plaza Mall (no purchase necessary, while tickets last.) Ticket holders must arrive at Webster Hall New York City for first come first serve entry. Origins will collect all the packaging and recycle or responsibly convert it to energy through its Return to Origins Recycling Program.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the first annual Origins Rocks Earth Month Concert,” exclaims Macy Gray. “Origins is known for its industry-leading commitment to the people and the planet. I am proud to be partnering with a brand that aligns with my beliefs of planting trees and cleaning up the earth for future generations.”

PLANT-A-TREE CAMPAIGN
To further its Global Plant-A-Tree Campaign, Origins will plant a tree on behalf of each in-person concert attendee through its partners Global ReLeaf™.  Did you know that just one tree provides oxygen for up to four people per day?

In 2009, Origins launched its Plant-A-Tree Campaign in partnership with American Forests’ Global ReLeaf™; an education and action program that helps individuals, agencies and corporations improve the local and global environment by planting and caring for trees. Since the launch of this successful campaign, Origins has aided reforestation projects globally by helping to plant more than 23,000 trees around the world. In addition to planting a tree for each concert attendee, from April 18th to 30th, Origins will plant a tree in honor of each customer who purchases the NEW A Perfect World™ SPF 25 Age-defense moisturizer with White Tea or current moisturizer.

Origins is available at select department and specialty stores, as well as in its own free-standing retail stores and at ORIGINS.com.

beautiful lyrics...

i am a sucker for great lyrics in music.
one of the most beautiful songs ever to me is
empty - by ray lamontagne
some of the most meaningful lyrics i've ever heard.

She lifts her skirt up to her knees,
walks through the garden rows with her bare feet, laughing.
I never learned to count my blessings,
I choose instead to dwell in my disasters.
I walk on down the hill,
through grass, grown tall and brown
and still its hard somehow to let go of my pain.
On past the busted back of that old and rusted Cadillac
that sinks into this field, collecting rain.
Will I always feel this way?
So empty, so estranged.

And of these cut-throat busted sunsets,
these cold and damp white mornings
I have grown weary.
If through my cracked and dusted dime-store lips
I spoke these words out loud would no one hear me?
Lay your blouse across the chair,
let fall the flowers from from your hair
and kiss me with that country mouth, so plain.
Outside, the rain is tapping on the leaves,
to me it sounds like they're applauding us the the quiet love we've made.
Will I always feel this way?
So empty, so estranged.

Well I looked my demons in the eyes,
laid bare my chest, said "Do your best, destroy me.
You see, I've been to hell and back so many times,
I must admit you kind of bore me."
There's a lot of things that can kill a man,
there's a lot of ways to die,
listen, some already did that walked beside me.
There's a lot of things I don't understand,
why so many people lie.
Its the hurt I hide that fuels the fire inside me.
Will I always feel this way?
So empty, so estranged.

i will always love this song, and his music.
